Says Carol:

"After completing full-time employment at The Washington Post in 2008, I now combine all my experiences into other challenging positions, as an art director, graphic designer and painter. My goal is to continue working within media, cultural or educational organizations. Highly-skilled and dynamic, I’ve excelled at it all: print, commercial television, advertising and promotional design for the fine arts, individuals and non-profit organization.

As of 2016, I began working for the Smithsonian Institution's new museum. Called the National Museum of African American History and Culture, I assist the curators and program manager with guests who come for book talks, dramatizations, and collective dinner sessions.

Every year, I manage to take a trip overseas to paint and explore art and cultures of exotic places. Pure Joy!"

FUN AND REALLY GOOD FRENCH BISTRO FOOD. We'll confirm the exact address details with the reservation!

“How To Fast Forward Your Life “
Meaningful Connecting. Networking.

Our Special Guests are:

CONNIE-LEE BENNETT
Int'l Thought Leader In Authentic Communications

TOMMIE MCKENZIE
Bassist

Jazz. Pop

My summary: One of the best ways to fast forward your life is through
making meaningful connections with other people. Sometimes this is in the form of networking,
which we all have to do more and more of  in today's life. How do you really
approach networking?
There are several  levels: through the mind, the heart and finall,y the soul.

Says Connie-Lee Bennett:

“I know many people are afraid of networking or don't like the idea of networking.

I think the reason for this is that at the heart of every person is the deep fear that we will “not be good enough” in somebody else's eyes. Imagine for a moment that you are looking at the
confident person across the room networking with ease. Instead of thinking,

‘There is no way I am that good or they are much better at this than me’?, Why don’t we ask a better question.  For example, instead of asking

‘Why am I not good enough’, why don’t you ask ‘Is that person networking confidently because they genuinely
feel confident about themselves or are they trying to appear as if they are good enough because they are fearful of ‘Being Found Out'?

In my talk I will be looking at three principles to help you network more efficiently:

1. If you think of the term ‘net-working’: If you look at a net, is it made up of many different strings or is there is only one string?

2. In order to truly connect, we need to be able to see what is behind the person’s mask. Instead of looking at the outside, we need to see what is underneath the mask. Instead of hearing the words that the person is saying, we need to listen to what the intention is behind the words spoken.

3. What is your intention behind networking? Is it to give or is it to take?

4. Ask better questions

5. Understand that there is no gender divide – it is about masculine and feminine energy

I feel that in order to network with freedom, we need to be aware of whether we are networking from the space of the head, the heart or the soul."

"FRENCH WAR BRIDES: MADEMOISELLE & THE AMERICAN SOLDIER."
Living The American Dream.

 Our Special Guests are:

Hilary Kaiser
Author, Oral historian. Former Associate Professor Intercultural Communication,
University of Paris

Tommie McKenzie
Bassist
Jazz. Pop.

Following both World War I and II, about 6,500 Franco-American marriages took place between
French mademoiselles and American soldiers, be they "doughboys" or GI's.

These women, who came from different parts of France and diverse background, would later
cross the Atlantic to join husbands,
settle in various corners of America, suffer culture shock, and adapt to marriage
in a foreign land of postwar plenty with varying degrees of success.

Despite these difficulties, like many other immigrants, they got on with it and survived.

As the compelling oral histories in this book show, most of them did, in their own way,
live the American dream.

Says Hiiary:
I wish to share with a wide audience the engaging stories of French war brides of WWI and WWII,
as well as the historical context of the period. I have brought out a new paperback
and email edition of the book I originally published in French. Its new title is
French War Brides: Mademoiselle & the American Soldier
."

Hilary Kaiser, Ph.D. is an oral historian and an associate professor
emerita of intercultural communication at the University of Paris.
She is also the author of WWII Voices: American GI’s and the French Women
Who Married Them and Souvenirs de Vétérans.

A dual American-French national,
she currently divides her time between
Paris, France and Berkeley, California.

Address: At our friends trendy and beautiful Marais apartment at the metro Hotel de Vlle, (Ligne 1) . We'll confirm the exact address details with the reservation!
