Mary Will Share Many Photographs With Us Of... "The Paris Of The Future?"

Mary will show stunning images and propose what we can do to prevent this damage to the beauty of Paris.

Readers of The Nation, The Weekly Standard, Planetizen.com, The International Herald Tribune and other national and international publications know Mary Campbell Gallagher not only as an authority and consultant on the bar examination but as an advocate for the urbanism and architectural traditions of Paris and an opponent of plans to build towers inside Paris.

Born and raised in Chicago and trained as a lawyer at Harvard, Mary Campbell Gallagher is a professional speaker, the owner of a business, BarWrite® and BarWrite Press, that offers Continuing Legal Education classes and prepares candidates for the bar exam, and a writer dedicated to the prosperity of New York City's economy and to the preservation of Parisian urbanism.

Temple Tsenes-Hills
Writer, Photographer, Designer, Historian

Temple Will Share Many Moving Photographs With Us Of The Paris... "Je Ne Sais Pas Quoi"

From Temple:

Although Paris is a place, She is so much more. Paris is a compilation of small and large experiences that evoke a myriad of emotions: that first bite into a buttery croissant; sitting in a café sipping a glass of wine – watching the world go by; wandering down a narrow shadowed cobblestoned street that leads to a grand boulevard, filled with sunlight, lined with stately trees; sitting on a bench in an impossibly large salon, spellbound by a breathtakingly beautiful painting 6.5 feet tall, 42 feet long…"

There is...something about Paris. The French have a saying for this something: "Je ne sais quoi." This saying is fitting because it explains everything and nothing (wry grin). My photographs are the result of my meanderings through and around Paris. They're how I explain that 'indescribable something' in a language that I believe is most expressive - through light, shadow, color, movement, and emotion."

By day Temple is a history professor, at a small Midwestern Catholic University. By night she immerses herself in her 30 year-long love affair with Paris, France. Temple is the founder/owner/artist of Temple Designs – an online shop that features her Parisian inspired jewelry, art, & fine art photography; is a staff writer/photographer, and author of the bi-monthly column “Postcards from Paris,” for Belle Inspiration Magazine; and author’s the blog: "Pour l’Amour de Paris" (For the Love of Paris). Temple’s Paris photography is regularly featured in the annual France edition of Romantic Homes Magazine.

Temple Tsenes-Hills is an American Historian and author.

Our Guest of Honor

David Burke

Filmmaker
Longtime Paris Expat

Author of "Writer's In Paris". Creator of "Writers In Paris Walks"
Creator of the video, with wife Joanne, inspired by Woody Allen's MIDNIGHT IN PARIS http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=miH9U0FiesY

( DAVID WILL HAVE AUTOGRAPHED COPIES OF "WRITERS IN PARIS" FOR SALE AT A GREAT PRICE!)

David Burke took a year off , in 1986, from a successful NY career, with wife Joanne, a successful film editor, and their three sons. Well the first year was so fantastic that it turned into a second year. And went on and on. We all know the story. Many of us have experienced that. That was certainly my experience..

From David Burke - His Themes:

“My work” is about how being in Paris transformed my professional life. In New York I was a writer/producer of documentary films, working for “the suits” at CBS, NBC, and other companies. In Paris I began writing prose for publication in print for the first time – magazine articles and books. I'd written pleanty for TV, but not for the written page. I’ve continued to work in films here as well, but independently, rather than working for companies, with Joanne as the producer/director/editor and me as the writer and, on most of our films, the cameraman – thanks to the digital revolution! If digital technology hadn’t come along we could never have afforded to make our films. So that’s what I’ve been doing over these years, mainly writing and working on films. And now I am launching a new venture with “David Burke’s WRITERS IN PARIS Walks." (www.writersinparis.com)

“My Personal Life” has to do largely with Joanne and the way our relationship changed here. Joanne was one of the top documentary film editors in New York, with some feature films for Sidney Lumet as well, and teaching film editing at NYU and the School for Visual Arts -- a very busy lady! – on top of which she was a mother to our three boys. It was very stressful at times for both of us, juggling all that. It was Joanne’s idea to take a year off from work and come to Paris.

“The Pleasures Of Living In Paris” is about things about this city and more broadly about living in France that appeal to me. And much more.

From Patricia: David will share. We'll ask questions and discuss too!

Address: A COOL, exotic venue with great food in the heart of the Latin Quarter! A new addition.

It's €25.00 (EXACT CHANGE) for a fun gourmet dinner at one of our favorite, upbeat restaurants in the Latin Quarter, m° Cluny La - Sorbonne. A new addition. Free-flowing wine. We'll confirm the address with the reservation.

Our Guest of Honor

Fleace Weaver
Founder

Black Girl Travel
(www.blackgirltravel.com)

FLEACE WEAVER
is the founder of BlackGirlTravel.com, a hugely successful travel club for fun loving travelers.

As a child, Fleace dreamt of traveling to foreign lands. She was nicknamed "Road Runner" because she was never afraid to leave the security of her home to pursue an adventure. In 1999 she founded Blackweekly.com, a regional social website that services over 23,000 members in the greater Los Angeles area. In 2006 she returned to her childhood passion and organized "Bella Italia" a whirlwind tour of Northern Italy and then Black Girl Travel in 2006, following the resounding success of her tours

Fleace explains a little, the concept of her business: "At BlackGirlTravel.com we create extraordinary travel for extraordinary women. Our goal is simple... exposing Black women to the beauty of the world and the world to the beauty of Black women. We create unique customized tours and meeting programs for groups and individuals."

The heart of her success: Fleace's tours are designed for "young at heart" well-heeled urbanites interested in exploring new lands while indulging in local culture, international cuisine, retail therapy, and exciting nightlife. There simply is no such thing as a 'regular' tour at BlackGirkTravel. Fleace doesn't take existing tours by other companies and copy them! She begins the planning of each tour from scratch with pen, paper, maps, and a vision to maximize the time spent in each country. With her creative flair and "can do" attitude, Fleace has earned a reputation for designing unique travel experiences with the special needs and desires of the fun-loving anad progressive. For the seasoned traveller looking for something different or a newbie seeking the security of a group, she is famous for designing a tour just for them!

Her motto: "These are not your grandmother's tours."

Fleace will share fun memories and experiences she has had building her business.

From Patricia: Will be fun!
