"TAKING OFF INTO THE WILD BLUE YONDER. TRAVEL ADVENTURES AROUND THE WORLD"

Special Guest is Dr. Paulette Lagana: World Traveller. Environmental Activist. Telecommunications. College Professor.

Says Paulette:

"I created a single item bucket list at the age of 20: To travel around the world!

At the age of 67, I fulfilled that lifelong goal by planning & executing a 6-month trip around the world.

I traveled (for the most part) by myself and took advantage of additional bucket list opportunities along the way, including:

bungee jumping, parasailing, swimming with dolphins, walking on a glacier in New Zealand, visiting the Great Barrier Reef, riding an elephant in Thailand, mask making in Florence, rode a Segway in Prague.

I  attended the opera at La Scala, visited (Sufi poet) Rumi's grave in Turkey, and explored King Arthur's round table in Winchester, England.

I will share with you how I prepared myself for that trip, planned my own itinerary, and took off into the wide blue yonder by myself with a single plane ticket.

I'll give you a hint regarding the outcome:

IT REALLY IS A WONDERFUL WORLD !!"

Dr. Paulette Lagana is retired and lives in the San Francisco Bay Area.

PAULETTE, I'M READY TO CLOSE MY EYES AND TAKE OFF INTO THE WILD BLUE YONDER WITH YOU! - Patricia

Address: At a fun and trendy apartment in the center of Paris. We'll confirm the exact address details with the reservation!

It's €25.00 (EXACT CHANGE) for a fun dinner. Free-flowing wine.

A fun dinner, a great topic, meeting and networking with, fun, new international people.

SOIREES EVERY SUNDAY!

THANK YOU FOR FORWARDING TO FRIENDS!

FOR EXPATS OF ALL ORIGINS, FRENCH, VISITORS!

SUNDAY 5 JULY 2015

"THE STRASBOURG THAT I LOVE "

Special Guest is Peter Schlipf, German-American Photographer and Photo journalist based in Germany.

From Peter:

"What orginally attracted me to Strasbourg was the duality of the culture there; a perfect mix of French and German (Don't tell the Alsacians that). Many Alsatians speak French and German and often also English.

Modern Strasbourg is the perfect example of a French/German friendship that nobody thought was possible 70 years ago.

The Jardin des Deux Rive, which opened in 2009 is the crowning jewel: a park on both sides of the borders on the Rhine connected by a pedestrian bridge that you can cross day or night with no checkpoints.
(There was a time where you could have been shot just for thinking that.)

And as of 2016, the Strasbourg City Tram will  be crossing over the Rhine to Kehl, Germany, bringing both sides even closer together.

There's a lot happening on the water as well.

Strasbourg is the capitol of Europe with the highest concentration of consulates in France outside of Paris. This creates an ever present multi-cultural flavor and cultural diversity.

Historically, what I will also be featuring is the Place de la Republique area, also known as the "German Quarter".

When Germany beat France in 1871 and took over Alsace, Kaiser Wilhelm II re-built the area with what was then "modern" German architechture, which today offers
 a unique, traditional French/German flare

So there are a lot of reasons to jump on the TGV and head east to Strasbourg anytime of the year - and not only just for the Christmas markets."

BEAUTIFUL, FUN AND INVOLVING IMAGES! - Patricia

Address: At a fun and beautiful apartment in the Marais at Hotel de Ville/Chatelet metros. We'll confirm the exact address details with the reservation!

It's €25.00 (EXACT CHANGE) for a fun dinner. Free-flowing wine.

A Fun Dinner, a great topic, meeting and networking with, fun, new international people.
