Our Guest Of Honor Susan Sisko Carter

Singer.Songwriter.Screenwriter. Novelist.

Susan Sisko Carter has written teleplays for some of the major producers in television, including David Simon, Gavin Palone, and David Chase. She has written feature films for Disney and United Artists, and is a recipient of the Luminas Award from Women in Film. As a singer-songwriter, she has recorded for Verve and Epic, under the name: Susan Carter. In 2008, a song, which she co-wrote, was featured on Broadway in Chazz Palminteri’s A Bronx Tale. She is pleasantly at work on a new album. Her smoky, sensual tune, “Sipping Wine in Paris,” a short story set to music, features piano accompaniment by film composer/sometimes-guest-conductor for the Moscow Philharmonic, Terry Plumeri. The song will be available, soon ... in conjunction with her debut novel: "I Want Your Husband".

"I Want Your Husband" was inspired by Susan’s experience living in a hotel, in West Hollywood, for two-and-a-half years. She began the book in the hotel. And finished it in Paris where she resides whenever possible. For enticing excerpts, and contact info, check out her site (which she would be updating...if she weren’t in Paris, now, bingeing on inspiration): http://iwantyourhusband.com/ Susan is also at work on a new book about her adventures in Paris: "Why French Women Wear Scarves"...the name of the popular, and often quoted, piece she wrote for the Huffington Post

QUOTES ABOUT SUSAN: "Susan Sisko Carter writes like she sings: She’s sultry yet playful, mixing the improvisation of jazz with the urgency of rock ‘n’ roll.”– Michele Kort, Senior Editor of Ms. Magazine. Author of the book: Soul Picnic: The Music and Passion of Laura Nyro

Former Casino Boss Of The Sands Hotel In Las Vegas

"FRANK SINATRA AND THE RAT PACK IN LAS VEGAS " And Stories Of Other Entertainers In Las Vegas (Including Marilyn Monroe)

*(The Rat Pack: Frank Sinatra, Dean Martin, Sammy Davis Jr , Joey Bishop, Peter Lawford)

Former Casino boss Ed Walters originally answered emails about Frank Sinatra on The Frank Sinatra Mailing List (known as the Temple list). These stories were called The Pit Boss Replies, because they were in direct response to questions someone from The Temple List would ask Ed. Many found it fascinating to hear first-hand how Sinatra and his friends really behaved at The Sands. New The Pit Boss Replies stories appear to this day on The Temple List and on The Voice Mailing List (an invitation-only group).

Author Tom Rendour asked Ed if he could share these stories with cyber fans via his Songs By Sinatra website: http://www.songsbysinatra.com/. Ed agreed, and now they are there for everyone to enjoy.
The bulk of these Stories From Vegas are as they appeared originally on The Sinatra Mailing List

Stories you have never heard before that will give you a better understanding of what made Sinatra tick

Please visit: www.songsbysinatra.com

This Sunday, you won't want the evening to end.- Patricia

NOTE: (The Rat Pack is the nickname given to a group of popular entertainers most active between the mid-1950s and mid-1960s. Its most famous line-up featured Frank Sinatra, Dean Martin, Sammy Davis, Jr., Peter Lawford and Joey Bishop, who appeared together in films and on stage in the early-1960s. Despite its reputation as a masculine group, the Rat Pack did have female participants, including movie icons Shirley MacLaine, Lauren Bacall, Angie Dickinson, Marilyn Monroe, and Judy Garland.

t. Raoul's Presentation. More Great Socializing)

Our Guest of Honor

Raoul Malhotra

London Based Scholar And Comedian Visiting Paris

Raoul Malhotra is a young British Asian (India) currently in Paris in his gap year. Next year he will attend LSE (The London School of Economics), but is currently completing course work for his Ph D in life. Over the last year or so, Raoul has taken a capricious approach to Bollywood in an effort to improve his Hindi. Looking at Bollywood from all angles, he will be discussing his own attitudes to Indian cinema, and its marketability all over the world. Frequently asked questions such as "Do all these movies really need to be 4 hours long?" and "Why do they sing and dance at the most inappropriate times?", will be looked at as Raoul attempts to deconstruct the myths and legends of Bollywood.

Background on Bollywood

*Bollywood (Hindi: बॉलीवुड) is the informal term popularly used for the Hindi-language film industry based in Mumbai, India. The term is often incorrectly used to refer to the whole of Indian cinema; it is only a part of the Indian film industry.[1] Bollywood is the largest film producer in India and one of the largest centers of film production in the world.[2][3][4] The name is a portmanteau of Bombay (the former name for Mumbai) and Hollywood, the center of the American film industry. Bollywood is more properly refered to as Hindi cinema, though frequent use of poetic Urdu words is fairly common. There has been a growing presence of Indian English un dialogue and songs as well. It is not uncommon to see films that feature dialogue with English words and phrases, or even whole sentences.[6]The name "Bollywood" is a portmanteau of Bombay (the former name for Mumbai) and Hollywood, the center of the American film industry. [5]. However, unlike Hollywood, Bollywood does not exist as a physical place. The term "Bollywood" has origins in the 1970s, when India overtook America as the world's largest film producer...
