The court of Louis XIV was full of intrigue and scandal. What’s new about that?

The Sun King had mistresses galore, which set tongues wagging. But still he managed to remain a “good” Catholic. However, when a high-society lady, living in the Marais, was found to be slowly poisoning off members of her family for titillation and personal gain, the French court was aghast. Until a police investigation revealed that other nobles at Versailles were up to similar activities. Even one of the King’s most beloved mistresses was accused. Come hear about the seamy underside of the gilded court.
