SUNDAY 27 APRIL 2014

OUR THEME:

“WHAT DOES IT REALLY TAKE TO MAKE A RELATIONSHIP LAST?

Why this topic:

Last night I was reading an article about one of my favorite of the great legendary Hollywood stars, Bette Davis. The article stated:"Her career went through several periods of eclipse, and she admitted that her success had often been at the expense of her personal relationships..."

(..."Married four times, she was once widowed and thrice divorced, and raised her children as a single parent.")

When I read that, I thought:What does it really take to make a relationship last? Let's ponder on that thought.

And let's all discuss.

- Patricia

We'll have quick remarks by our special guests:

Dr. Vibike Dean - Former Psychotherapist

Charles Stewart - Sleuths International
(Int'l Investment Property Searches*)

Address: In our friend's lovely, fun and trendy 16th arrondisement apartment. Metro: Jasmin (ligne 9)! We'll confirm the exact address with the reservation!

"INTENTION IS AS REAL A FORCE AS GRAVITY” - HOW YOUR THOUGHTS SHAPE YOUR WORLD LITERALLY!"

Sunday --6 April 2014
19h00 - 22h30ish

Happy Hour. Lisa's Presentation. Dinner and Dessert. .More Great Socializing

Our Guest of Honor

Lisa Hanley
Life Facilitator

“Intention is as real a force as gravity”, says Dr Wayne Dwyer.

Does what we think and feel and say to ourselves really affect the world around us?

We’ve all heard about the importance of our thoughts so what if there was a real scientific explanation for how our thoughts affect our reality?

Come and hear about the physiological (how the brain works), scientific and energetic aspects of how this occurs and what it means for our daily lives. Inspire yourself with what is possible, and pick up some tips and tools to make the most of the power you have.

Create what you intend in your life, not be at, what appears to be, the mercy of life's circumstances. Let’s see what we can create together.

About Lisa:

Lisa helps people see events in their lives from a new perspective using the Demartini Method - a process created by Dr John Demartini that is so effective that what once took weeks, months or even years to heal, can be achieved in a matter of hours.

Lisa was one of Dr. Demartini’s first facilitators in Australia in 1996 and is one of the relatively few people in the world certified to teach his signature program, The Breakthrough Experience.

Dr. Demartini says of Lisa:

I have seen her tackle senior executives with firmness, as well as young teenagers with gentle gloves. She has persevered in her studies and cares about her work. I hope you are blessed to be able to see her work in action.

Lisa is currently in Paris to hold a one-day workshop - The Demartini Transformation Day - on Saturday April 26. She will also hold an Information Evening about Dr. Demartini’s work on Wednesday April 9.See www.lisahandley.com.au for details or phone 06 86 12 22 47. For your interest, www.drdemartini.com

Sunday 23 March 2014

19h00 - 22h30ish

Our Guest Of Honor

Bernadette Plageman
Celebrated Mime Performer

It'll Be Interactive And Fun!

ABOUT BERNADETTE PLAGEMAN:

Bernadette Plageman got interested in mime just before reaching the age of three. From then on, she would carefully observe every adult in her surroundings until she could decipher from the outside, who they were in the inside. In this universal language of gestures and expressions that crosses over every border and brings down barriers, she came to realize how much there is to "say" and explore.

Originally from Philadelphia, Bernadette went to Paris to study with the great mime masters of the time. Traveling back and forth between both cities, she also spent some time in New York, performing and studying at The Martha Graham School of Contemporary Dance and at The American Academy of Dramatic Art. Here in Paris, she has written two theses at the Sorbonne, one on Etienne Decroux's School, the father of Modern Mime, and another on Buster Keaton, the Mime. Performing mime internationally and creating original mime pieces, has led her to stage Mime Plays for humaitarian causes.

Bernadette Plageman will perform a selection of excerpts from her repertoire, which includes over twenty major mime shows. A short excerpt from her film “Le Mime autrement” will be screened, showing computer technology interplaying with Mime.

From Patricia: It’s interactive. You and I will learn a few mime techniques (moves) too!

Happy Hour. Scott's Presentation. Dinner and Dessert. More Great Socializing.

Sunday 9 February 2014

19h00 - 22h30ish

Our Guest Of Honor
:

Scott Haine
Author. Historian Of Food And Sociability.

Scott is the author of “The Thinking Space”, (newly published by Ashgate).
His talk will focus on café life and creativity.

The Café As A Cultural Institution In Paris, Italy And Vienna

The cafe is not only a place to enjoy a cup of coffee, it is also a space - distinct from its urban environment - in which to reflect and take part in intellectual debate. Since the eighteenth century in Europe, intellectuals and artists have gathered in cafes to exchange ideas, inspirations and information that has driven the cultural agenda for Europe and the world. Without the café, would there have been a Karl Marx or a Jean-Paul Sartre?

The café as an institutional site has been the subject of renewed interest amongst scholars in the past decade, and its role in the development of art, ideas and culture has been explored in some detail. However, few have investigated the ways in which cafés create a cultural and intellectual space which brings together multiple influences and intellectual practices and shapes the urban settings of which they are a part.

Scott Haine is a San Francisco Bay Area Historian of Food and Sociability. He currently teaches at the University of Maryland University College. His previous books include the outstanding: "The World of the Paris Café: Sociability among the French Working Class, 1789-1914."

Scott's A Great Speaker! Look forward to it. - Patricia
